Taste experiences at the foot of the Fassa Dolomites

Moena | September 16th - 18th 2021 Between the end of summer and the beginning of autumn, the Festival del Puzzone di Moena PDO returns with a mountain of novelties: a three-day event full of experiences dedicated to the king of Trentino cheeses, for die-hard cheese lovers or simple gourmets of all ages, winding through the three beautiful mountain villages of Moena, Soraga and Predazzo and their small hamlets, pearls in the Dolomites, from Val di Fassa to Val di Fiemme.

Programme of the Puzzone Festival:

Friday 16 September
Lunch between Soraga and Moena, to be enjoyed in a series of gourmet proposals aboard a traditional horse-drawn carriage;
Late afternoon - In the "Piaz de Ramon" square in Moena, an aperitif with cheese and wine, accompanied by good music and a masterclass with an expert, aimed at those who want to discover the "Puzzone di Moena DOP" and the Slow Food Presidia; Saturday, 17 September
Puzzone Trekking with a route that, after a rich breakfast at "El Mas" farm, where Puzzone cheese is made only with grey Alpine milk, leads to Soraga, just in time to witness the traditional return of breeders and cows from the high pastures of the San Pellegrino Pass, while enjoying an aperitif with the best cheeses of Val di Fassa and the wines of Trentino. Continue into the woods above the village for an open-air Ladin lunch with music and then return to the valley via the characteristic hamlet of Someda. Those who prefer to spend the day in a more relaxed way can enjoy the typical gastronomy of "Desmonteada de Soraga" (cow parade), enriched by a market with typical and artisan products; In the afternoon the focus is on Predazzo, where the Taste Train awaits young and old for a tour of the countryside to discover the stables and the characteristic Biolago, complemented by a snack at the new Bistrot of Predazzo and the Moena cheese dairy; Return to Moena in the evening with a new aperitif with traditional chic flavours accompanied by local producers and craft beer from the "Rampeèr" brewery of Campitello; Sunday, 18 September
The last day with a return to the streets of Moena with breeders, cows, goats, horses and folk groups and associations taking part in the folkloric "Desmonteada de Moena" (cow parade), which ends in the "Piaz de Sotegrava" square with the traditional cutting of the 5 PDO cheeses, while experts and historical cheese-makers explain the secrets of cheese-making. For the little ones, there will be an exciting themed treasure hunt through the streets of the characteristic quarter "Turchia", while adults can enjoy a special "alpine dairyman" breakfast in anticipation of the parade, followed by the many gastronomic offers developed for the occasion: from typical dishes in the square to the fascinating recipes of the dedicated review in the participating restaurants and farms from 15 to 18 September. For those who want to reach the Sunday parade in an environmentally friendly way, there is a guided bike tour that starts in Predazzo and ends in the early afternoon with a gastronomic stop in Moena. The whole is rounded off by a gastronomic event dedicated to the king of Trentino cheese, with traditional and innovative recipes that can be tasted in the participating restaurants, alpine pastures and huts, but also by excellent hospitality that will surprise you with interesting and advantageous holiday offers for those who want to treat themselves to four days between summer and autumn surrounded by flavours, Dolomitic nature and folklore.
