Taste Trails | The Predaia Plateau and its flavours
A passo lento tra panorami e sapori
The ideal trek for those who wish to discover and explore both the natural and cultural splendours of the Predaia plateau above the Val di Non. The trail is a delight and winds its way through verdant woods and buzzing orchards, crossing small lakes and streams of crystal-clear water along the way. It also offers numerous panoramic points from where it’s possible to soak up a unique perspective of the wide and fertile Val di Non and the surrounding mountains. The trail starts off in Vigo di Ton and the majestic Thun Castle, an imposing manor house that is definitely worth a visit, and leads us towards the cool valley of the Pongaiola stream where we reach our first tasty stop: MondoMelinda, the valley’s main consortium of local apple growers. Before leaving, a virtual trip through its underground storage chambers is a must. The route then passes by Bragher Castle before arriving in the town of Coredo, where the butcher’s shop of Massimo Goloso is sure to delight us with its specialities. The first stage ends in Tavon, with an exquisite evening meal at the Pineta Nature Wellness Resort, where we can also spend the night (alternatively we can opt for the nearby Agritur Agostini farmhouse). The next day we make our way across the splendid Predaia Plateau with its lush green mountain meadows accompanying us on our way. Of course, there will also be plenty of places to stop and rest and maybe gratify our taste buds: first in Smarano, where the Fratelli Corrà butcher's shop can prepare a tasty packed lunch for us to eat along the way, and then in Tres, for a glass of the local cider or craft beer at Lucia Maria's Sidreria brewery.
