SPIRIT STILLS AND CASTLES | TASTING TOURS
The Trento grappa is born from a family tradition that for centuries has been handed down from father to son, becoming strongly intertwined with the history of Trentino. With our tour, we will take you to the discovery of some producers, moving down from valley to valley: from Lake Toblino to Piana Rotaliana, from Vallagarina to Val di Ledro, passing through the city of Trento. Visits to distilleries will be “supported” by unique gastronomic combinations in some historical places in the area, where grappa sometimes becomes a real ingredient!
DAY 1 - CITY OF TRENT AND SANTA MASSENZA | CHARDONNAY, NOSIOLA AND VINO SANTO GRAPPA
Our tour begins with a dip in the history of the city of Trento, with a visit to the Castle of Buonconsiglio and, in particular, Torre dell'Aquila where we will admire the Cycle of Months, a series of frescoes narrating the late 12th and early 13th century economic and social life. We continue with a visit to the city hills and an 18th century villa, home to a charming distillery, where we can taste some Chardonnay grappa paired with Basini de Trent, typical cookies made in Trento. Lunch in a typical city restaurant to taste dishes prepared with local ingredients.
Our afternoon will be spent in the area of Lake Toblino, with the visit to the small village of Santa Massenza, called the “grappa capital”, and considered the Italian municipality having the greatest concentrations of distilleries. We will stop in one of the numerous microdistilleries to taste the Nosiola grappa, combined with Trentino fish products, and the Vino Santo grappa, produced from the straw wine typical of Valle dei Laghi. At the end of the day, delicious dinner with dishes paired with local grappas. Last stop in a charming accommodation.
